Mi-Ki Care Guide
Expert advice on food, grooming, and products for your Mi-Ki
Food & Treats
We have spent a lot of time and research on food and treats. When we got our first Mi-Ki, we were introduced to Life Abundance products, and we still use many of those products. We also use products from our local boutique pet food store. Make sure you choose quality products — you have a small toy breed and they will be with you for up to 17 to 18 years.
When you go home with your puppy, make sure you are giving them several small meals a day — they are prone to low blood sugar episodes. Do not leave your new puppy alone for extended periods of time; they are in a new place and need your presence to help them adjust.
As adults, we keep the protein under 26% to ensure a good daily protein level. Remember as you give high protein treats, keeping the feeding at 26% keeps everything balanced. We also review the chicken content, as some Mi-Kis can have an allergy to chicken.

We do all our grooming at home. While we are not trained professional groomers, we continue to learn all the time. Here is what we use and recommend:

Fun Toys & Other Products
For your new puppy, they have been learning potty training on disposable potty pads. We use mesh covered potty trays, which help keep the puppies from shredding the potty pad.
